180° Excavator Course

Operate and maintain a 180° Excavator safely

Taking our 180° Excavator course will demonstrate competence in the safe handling and maintenance of the machine, as well as instilling the confidence in both the candidate and their employer to operate safely on site.

Upon successful completion of the course you will be able to operate and maintain a 180° Excavator safely.

Entry Requirements:

Although you do not need any previous formal instruction to take this course, you must have passed a CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test no more than two years before attending this course.

This course will teach the candidate how to:

  • Operate the 180° excavator
  • Safely and productively
  • Fit and operate ancillary equipment
  • Site the machine safely and efficiently
  • Carry out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures
  • Prepare the machine for travelling on the public highway
  • Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of each machine
  • Follow all necessary safety precautions
  • Interpret the information provided by level pegs and profiles
  • Be aware of the necessary routine adjustments and service procedures, and carry them out
  • Work to levels with the aid of laser equipment

Course Duration:

  • 10 Days – Novice Operator, Including Test
  • 3 – 4 Days -Semi-Experienced Operator, Plus Test
  • 1 Day – Experienced Operator (refresher training), Plus Test

Assessment and exams:

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practicals. You will be assessed through theory and practical tests.

Qualifications/certification:

When you have successfully completed the course you will be awarded a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card (on successful completion of the CPCS Technical Tests).
