CPCS Trained Operator – Red Card

From completing your technical practical test you have two years to complete an NVQ.  We can extend your card from the date of the technical test by one year in order for you to complete an NVQ if required.

CPCS Competent Operator Card – Blue Card

Once the five years has elapsed on your Competent Operator Card you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Update your Health Safety and Environment Operators Test, if not done within the last two years (May be Managers and Professionals for some categories)
  2. Pass the relevant Plant Renewals multiple choice screen tests.  If you send us your card number we can check which renewal tests you will need to complete.
  3. You will then need to EITHER:-
  • Record and have verified at least 300 hours operating for each category renewing
  • Complete an onsite assessment with one of our assessors
  • Complete a CPCS practical test at our site with one of our assessors

Complete an Experienced Operator theory and practical test just before the expiry date on your card.

Confined Spaces

Confined Spaces certificates are valid for three years from issue.  There is no renewal test available, you will need to redo the course and City and Guilds assessments.

Street Works

Your Street Works Qualification Register is valid for five years, however six months before the expiry we recommend considering to renew to avoid any risk of the card elapsing.

You can either redo the Street Works practical assessments, or complete a multiple choice question paper for each unit you wish to renew.
