Operate and maintain a Forward Tipping Dumper safely

Whether you would like to refresh your current skills or gain new ones, this course is the one for you.

Taking our Forward Tipping Dumper course will demonstrate competence in the safe handling and maintenance of the machine, as well as instilling the confidence in both the candidate and their employer to operate safely on site.

Upon successful completion of the course you will be able to operate and maintain a Forward Tipping Dumper safely.

Entry requirements:

Although you do not need any previous formal instruction to take this course, you must have passed a CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test no more than two years before attending this course.

This course will teach the candidate how to:

  • Operate the machine to a minimum standard
  • Fit and operate ancillary equipment
  • Site the machine safely and efficiently
  • Know which minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures are necessary, and be able to carry them out
  • Prepare the machine for travelling on the public highway
  • Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of each machine
  • Apply all necessary safety precautions
  • Understand how diesel engines work and how various parts of the machine operate

Course Duration:

  • 3 Days – Novice Operator, Including Test
  • 1 Days – Semi-Experienced Operator, Plus Test
  • 1 Day – Experienced Operator (refresher training), Including Test

Assessment and exams:

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practicals. You will be assessed through theory and practical tests.


When you have successfully completed the course you will be awarded a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card (on successful completion of the CPCS Technical Tests).
