Operate and maintain a Ride on Roller safely

Suitable for all experience levels, from novice operators looking to expand upon their plant operating skills, through to experienced operators looking to refresh theirs. By taking our CPCS Ride on Roller course you will demonstrate competence in the safe handling and maintenance of the machine. Our course will instil the confidence in both the candidate and their employer to operate safely on site.

Upon successful completion of the course you will be able to operate and maintain a Ride on Roller safely.

Entry Requirements:

Although you do not need any previous formal instruction to take this course, you must have passed a CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test no more than two years before attending this course.

This course will teach the candidate how to:

  • All pre-start, running checks and shut down procedures
  • Set roller for travel
  • Awareness of on-site hazards
  • Set the roller for compaction duties
  • Place roller in an out of service condition
  • Recognise compacted/uncompacted areas
  • Conditions that may cause instability of the roller
  • Safety procedures when working up to unsupported edges
  • Loading and unloading procedures on/off a transporter

Course Duration:

  • 3 Days – Novice Operator, Including Test
  • 1 Days – Semi-Experienced Operator, Plus Test
  • 1 Day – Experienced Operator (refresher training), Including Test

Assessment and exams:

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practicals. You will be assessed through theory and practical tests.

Qualifications/certification:

When you have successfully completed the course you will be awarded a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card (on successful completion of the CPCS Technical Tests).
